SELF-CONTINUITY

Where: Afikaris Gallery (38 Rue Quincampoix, 75004 Paris)

When: January 15, 11am - 1pm

People without past have no future.

The past does not only bind us together, it also acts as a support for building a better environment for us and our ancestors. The beauty of present lies in its constant variability and volatility. Our personal history has not yet been written, however, we have the power to influence and accept it. In words of Francois de La Rochefoucauld, "in order to understand the life, we need to live in the moment".
We are the authors of our future, despite the fact that the future is wild. We need to re-evaluate our ideals to ensure a harmonious future. Universal love and mutual respect is the only way.

The "Self-Continuity"  roundtable is dedicated to celebrating the diversity and uniqueness of all the cultures, highlighting their universal values to the global culture. Art is a perfect medium that can consolidate people and lead to universal harmony,  where everyone can be accepted.

The field of Contemporary Art from Africa is characterised by a dynamic list of exceptional artists whose aesthetic innovations and conceptual depth have paved the way for a new generation. Contemporary African art is not just a tribute to fashion and time, it is a necessary condition for a healthy art environment.

A unique experience to hear professional opinions on how to brand artists and the best way to represent their art to a professional and mainstream audience. The main idea of the roundtable is how to present and commercialise their talent from an art market perspective.

WEBINAR:

“MORE THAN ONE CULTURE”

The idea and concept of plurality is more relevant than ever. Our differences permeate our beliefs, preferences and affections; they affect not only what we think, but also the way we think and how we see the world. Our differences form our unique worldview, which allows an individual to retain the right to choose.

Humanity today is in a constant search of their identity. Oddly enough, sometimes this search leads to the fact that a person desires to expand beyond themselves, and finds their corner within a community. At times, they seek to separate themselves from one another, and further the question arises how people whose world views are diametrically opposed can coexist peacefully.

Finding answers to these and many other questions remains to be the intention of “More Than One Culture”.
